What are the different embellishments I can add to my embroidery hoops?

Answer :Tracy
. Here are two ways to embellish your embroidery hoops: Glitter might look amazing but things can get messy when you work with it. The safest option is using glitter paint. If you are a fan of glitter powder, just use the fine kind. In order to embellish your hoop, brush the outer one with craft glue. Then sprinkle glue so it sticks to the wet glue. Wait for the glue to dry and then check if enough glitter covers it. Do another coat if it isn’t and keep repeating until you are satisfied with it. Let it all dry before sealing the glitter in with one coat of clear sealer. You can also decorate your embroidery hoop using sequins and gems. They look as sparkly as the glittered on hoop but without the mess! You can glue the sequins one by one or get a trim that has many sequins joined together.

How is the Star Stitch made in embroidery?

Answer :Tracy
A. Also known as the twinkle stitch, the star stitch is another embroidery stitch that is easy to make. The star stitch is good stitch to use when you want to add details to your embroidery. It is made with basic straight stitches and like the woven wheel stitch can be made by different methods. For instance, you can use several straight stitches, positioning them so they share a common centre. Their shape will resemble a star. The method we share here will result in a star stitch that looks like many cross stitches have come together: You will be making a star stitch that has 8 points. For that, you will have to come up through the fabric (point 1). Then take the needle briefly back down to end up with a vertical stitch (point 2). Next, form an upright cross stitch. You will first need to bring the needle back up to the left side of the first stitch (point 3). Then it will go through the fabric at the right side of the first stitch (point 4). Go down between points 1 and 3 and vice versa between points 2 and 4. Then come up again between points 2 and 3. Going down between 1 and 4 will result in a star stitch. As you try different points and vary the length of the stitches, you will be able to make variations of the star stitch. It will require practice. For now, you should stick to the basic way of making the star stitch. You can use the star stitch to add stars to embroidery that shows the night sky. You can also use it to stitch the constellations. By adding some sparkle to the star stitch, you can make your project look even more eye catching.

How can I learn to do Ribbon Stitch for Ribbon Embroidery?

Answer :Tracy
The ribbon stitch is one of the most commonly used stitches in the eponymous ribbon embroidery technique. You won’t find this stitch a part of any other technique because it requires a ribbon for construction. Use any other types of thread to make a ribbon stitch and you will understand! The good thing about ribbon stitches is that they can be made using one of several ways. Therefore, if you can’t follow the method mentioned here, you can still make the ribbon stitch with other methods. Even so, try to learn this stitch because it is considered a building block in the ribbon embroidery technique. Just keep in mind that you will need to be patient as you learn how to make this stitch. Take care and you will master it soon! Here is a step by step guide to ribbon stitch: First, you will need to bring the ribbon up from behind the fabric. Then, flatten the ribbon on the fabric’s surface. Next, use your needle to pierce it in the middle. Your needle should go where you will find the end of the stitch. Slowly, pull the needle all the way through. Make sure that the ribbon remains flat. Don’t yank the needle out or the loop won’t shrink properly. At the end of your stitch once it is finished will be a little roll. The roll in turn will have a small point. Depending on how large the ribbon you were using was, the finished look might vary slightly. Pulling too much of the ribbon will cause irreversible damage. The end of the stitch sink will be pulled to back. You will know if you pulled too hard because it will leave a straight ribbon stitch behind.

What is France's favorite drink

Answer
Don't quote me on it, but France is most known as the nation of whiskey drinkers! On average, a French person matches every drink you have by consuming 2.15 liters of whiskey every year. France also claims to be home of the world's best whisky since it is also the most popular drink of choice. Whisky has left behind cognac and wine in the dust due to its popularity. The second highest whisky consumers can be found in Uruguay since they consume 1.77 liters a year. While that isn’t a match for the French, it is still higher than Americans – 1.4 liters. According to the French Federation of Spirits, whisky purchases account for close to 40 per cent of the entire French spirits market. It is followed by pastis (25 per cent) and cognac (0.5 per cent). If you want to know which type of whisky is a French favorite, the answer won’t surprise you. Almost 90 per cent of all whisky being sold in France is Scottish. Even so, France has a mind to change that by producing its own whisky.

What is Johannisbeeren?

Answer :Tracy
Germany is most well known for its red and black currants. In fact, you will often find these fruits in different German dishes – be they sweet or savory! Ever since the 15 th century, this currant has been cultivated in different parts of Europe. Many breeders have even crossed different species to get the desired results. The garden currant is a result of such pairing. The fruits are found in the form of grape like bunches. In Germany, they are known as Johannisbeeren – a name given to them in memory of John the Baptist. It is said the saint and the currants share a birthday and harvesting season between them. The currants are intensely sweet in taste but that’s because they come from blooms that contain a high percentage of both sugar and nectar. That’s also the reason you will find the plants surrounded by pollinating bees.

Which fabric should I use to sew different kinds of clothing?

Answer :Tracy
Each fabric has specific properties that make it well suited to a particular kind of clothing. For instance, silks look delicate and luxurious due to their slippery and shiny appearance. Another thing to keep in mind when choosing fabric is its weight. The weight matters because it will influence the type of pattern you choose, For instance, of you are looking at a lightweight fabric, it is better to choose a pattern that will suit warmer weather. Therefore, it is better to leave the bolder prints and patterns for heavier fabrics. The following examples will help you get started down the right path: When looking to pants, linen is a good choice for warm weather. If you are making pants to keep the cold at bay, then wool, flannel, and denim are all good choices. For shirts and blouses, you can choose from a variety of fabric types. Whether it is cotton lawn, cotton voile, knit, rayon challis, silk, double gauze or chambray, you will have many options. You can also use flannel if you want less clingy shirts and blouses. Skirts are best made from linen, cotton lawn, denim, rayon challis and knit. Colder weather dresses can be made with wool. For warmer weather, you can choose from the many fabric types mentioned above for shirts and blouses.

What are the different kinds of fabrics that I can use?

Answer :Tracy
You will find the following fabrics in most shops: Calicos and Cottons are usually 100% cotton fabrics. Therefore, never forget to pre-wash them before using them for sewing. You will never run out of colors when it comes to these fabrics. Moreover, they come in many styles, including for babies, quilts, and even printed ones. They are also easily available in most stores. You can make bags, quilts, and aprons with them. Designer prints are also an option for you to try. Plush fabrics, example minky and fleece, are soft to touch. Their texture and the cozy feeling associated with these fabrics makes them ideal for making stuff for babies. You can also use them to make nightwear and blankets. Additionally, they will be perfect for baby blankets and stuffed animals. When you are thinking snuggly, think plush fabrics! Keep in mind that they will cost more than cotton and calico would. Fabrics like silks and satins are considered for use in things used on special occasions. The satin fabrics will have a soft and silky feel to them while if you spot something like netting, you are looking at tulle. You can use these to make special occasion clothing, such as dresses. Their slippery texture might make them look delicate also makes them harder to handle. So be careful! Jersey knits are fabrics that can be used to be skirts and shirts. You will recognize them by their soft and stretchy texture that reminds you of a t-shirt. Again, like the satins and silks, they will be harder to manage. That’s because they stretch. An advantage when sewing with jersey knits is that you buy less fabric. That’s because the size of the bolt they come in is often wider!

What are the four basics necessary for a sewing kit?

Answer
You will need the following things when putting together your first sewing kit: Scissors Important because you will be using them a lot, such as when cutting the fabric and the thread. While tailor’s scissors can be a little pricey, they are the best tools of the trade. They are also durable so you will essentially be spending just once. The size of your scissors matters because you will need longer ones to cut fabrics. Buy a large one for that job and a small one for cutting thread tails. Measure Tape Another important part of a sewing kit without which you’d be lost! Whether you buy one that shows measurements in inches or centimeters will depend on the unit you are more familiar with. We’d recommend that you get one that shows both units – one on each side of the tape. That way, you will be able to use the tape more. Needles If you will be doing the sewing yourself, you will need the needles to do so. However, if you also intend to use the domestic sewing machine, then you will need needles for those too. How do you differentiate between the two? A needle meant for hand sewing has an eye on one end of the shaft and the pointy end on the other. A sewing machine needle will have the eye near its tip. Pins While you are busy sewing, you will often need to hold the fabric in one place. Pins are useful for that purpose. Keep in mind that glass and plastic pins are mostly useless and get the metal ones. That’s because pressing a cloth with iron will make the pins with glass or plastic heads melt into the fabric!

What are some of the basic stitches used in embroidery?

Answer
The following stitches are commonly used in embroidery: The Stem Stitch The stem stitch is commonly used to make the stems of vines and flowers in embroidery, which is how it got its name. Another good way of using it is for when you are stitching it in letters. The result is text spelled with nicely curved letters. It is made the way a split stitch is made. Make a straight stitch forward first. Then take the needle behind the fabric. However, don’t pierce the center of the previous stitch when you do that. Instead, do so to one side. French Knots A French knot is a decorative stitch. It is also a favorite because it can be used as both filling of a space or to accent designs in embroidery. The French knot is made using both hands. Bring the needle and floss from behind the fabric first. Then use the latter to wrap the needle twice.* Tightening the floss, take the needle behind the fabric but at a point right next to where it had come out from. Pull it through while maintaining your grip on the floss. *How many times you wrap the floss (between 1-3) will allow you to change the size of the French knots. Lazy Daisy Think of the lazy daisy as a detached chain stitch. Just like as you would do in a chain stitch, create a stitch. Then make a loop with the floss before you pull it through the fabric. Next, bring the needle up as well. This will tether it to the loop and keep it from being pulled all the way through. Lastly, make a small stitch above the loop. The stitch will look like a daisy petal.

What are some of the basic stitches in hand sewing?

Answer
The following stitches are considered easy to master: Running Stitch While it is easy to master the running stitch, it is also the one with a large number of variations. The variation you would be using would depend on the purpose. For instance, the running stitch is used to tuck, mend, and gather in hand sewing. A longer form of running stitch becomes the basting stitch. In order to make a running stitch, you should bring the needle from the back and through the fabric. Then make a stitch in either direction after the knot has locked the thread into the fabric. Take the needle back and repeat for more stitches. Backstitch The backstitch is an old one when it comes to the history of sewing. Layers of backstitches were laid down to make clothes before sewing machines were invented. For the backstitch, you will begin making a small stitch from left to right. Next pierce the end of the stitch before this one with your needle. Pull it out until you can see the thread emerging behind. Repeat to make more stitches – each time pierce the end of the previous stitch. Blanket/ Buttonhole Stitch The buttonhole stitch as its name suggests is useful for sewing buttonholes by hand. To make one, you will have to start by knotting the thread behind the fabric. Now, turn the fabric the right side up and bring the needle from behind to the front. Your needle should be placed 1/8 inch from the edge. Now, you will be first wrapping the working head behind the eye and then behind the point. Pull it through so the knot lands at the edge of the fabric. Repeat to make more stitches.

How can I keep track of my weekend chores?

Answer :Tracy
First, let us look at the kind of chores that you should be designating to the weekend. Such tasks include buying groceries, attending the annual functions or the PTM at your kid’s school, paying bills, kids school supplies, maybe a pending school project the list goes on. Every mom will have a different itinerary of things to do, therefore, you’d need to do two things to avoid falling behind. Firstly, jot down the things that you will finish during the weekend. Then, schedule each task, so you’d know exactly when you need to get it done. You will see minimal clashes and incomplete tasks every weekend. If you prefer doing the jotting down on your laptop and mobile phone, then go ahead and set reminders on them.
